QuickConnect
Early Alert & Intervention Program

Purpose:

Studying Hard
The Classroom Experience
Early Alert & Intervention Program.
Established in Fall 2006, the QuickConnect program is an early warning and intrusive intervention system focused on new first-year students. The program is modeled on using class absences and other instructor concerns as prompts to contact students who may be struggling during the semester. The goals of QuickConnect include promoting responsible class attendance and providing one-to-one intervention during the critical first semester to connect students with resources pertinent to their individual needs.

Brief Description:

Instructors participating in QuickConnect are asked to monitor attendance in their course and address the importance of attendance with their students. After a third unexplained absence, instructors can make a QuickConnect Referral. Instructors can also refer students for intervention based upon other concerns as well, both academic and non-academic.

QuickConnect Responders are trained generalists, comprised of faculty and staff volunteers from across campus, who serve as advocates for students and assist in connecting them with appropriate services and resources. They will attempt to contact students who are referred. Instructors will be notified of the outcome of their referrals.
